We serve children in and around Sioux Falls (and beyond!) with many types of speech and language delays and disorders. These might include:
- Receptive Language--the ability to understand what is being said
- Expressive Language--the ability to express yourself with words and sentences
- Articulation--how you say sounds (often thought of as pronunciation)
- Phonology--patterns of sounds and sound combinations that change as children learn language
- Preliteracy--helping children make the initial connections between spoken language and letters and sounds
- Social Language--being able to use language appropriately including changing your language for different listeners and contexts, understanding jokes and sarcasm, and participate in age appropriate conversations with peers
- Language and Literacy--how spoken language impacts children's abilities to understand and use reading and writing
- Listening and Spoken Language for children who are deaf and hard of hearing--a combination of specific listening skills and language instruction that is tailored specifically to children with hearing technology that want to be able to use spoken English as their primary mode of communication
Not in Sioux Falls? Depending on your child's needs, teletherapy (speech therapy over the computer) may be an option.
